Orbelia

Orbelia Winery is located at the foot of Belasitsa mountain next to the village of Kolarovo, 12 km away of the town of Petrich. Orbelia is the ancient Thracian name of the mountain massif and translated means white, beautiful mountain.

The winery was opened in 2013 boasting modern technological and laboratory equipment. Some of the wines are aged in French, Bulgarian and American barrels. The winery’s philosophy is to make high-quality wines from the region’s traditional grape varieties aiming to preserve the region’s old wine traditions that date back to Thracian times. That is why their motto is – With Love for Traditions!

Special attention is paid to the grapes that are harvested from our own vineyards – over 200 acres of them located in the area of the villages of Mitinovo and Starchevo near Petrich. The varieties that are grown are the traditional local Broad-leaf Melnik, Early Melnik, Misket Sandanski and also Chardonnay, Muscat Ottonel, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc. On the market you can find the wines under the brands Orbelia, Via Aristotelis and Lyre.
