Wine cellar Bononia Estate and the newly opened boutique complex Bononia Estate Winery & Resort are situated on the banks of the Danube, in Koshava village, Vidin province. The main building intertwines three centuries – 19th, 20th and 21st. Guests have the opportunity to explore everything the owners have managed to save and renovate.
The complex has 22 hotel rooms each one with its distinct character and is equipped with materials and services of highest quality. Some of the rooms reveal a stunning view of the river Danube.
Restaurant Bononia Estate is modern yet cozy, offering its guests two balconies with view of the garden or the river. It sits 130 guests at full capacity – 70 inside and 60 outside.
The menu is carefully constructed by executive chef Filip Zahariev based on seasonal and regional products of highest quality while making sure there’s something to suit every taste. Looking at the bar menu you’ll come across some hard to find drinks not only in Bulgaria but also abroad. There’s also a cigar bar.
Equipped with an outdoor pool the complex also offers an indoor relax zone with a sauna, steam room and herbal sauna the equipment for which is extremely modern and professional and is imported from Estonia. Let’s not forget the infrared seats and, of course, the massages.
As well as the indoor and outdoor play areas for the kids the hosts have provided guests with specialised cosmetics and products especially for the young folks. In the inside play area you’ll find hand woven toys and there’s also surveillance cameras installed with access from the hotel rooms for that extra peace of mind for the parents.

“Baba Vida” Fortress is one of the best-preserved medieval defense structures in Bulgaria. The foundations of the medieval castle were laid at the end of the 10th century on top of the remains of the fortress walls of ancient Bononia. The “Baba Vidа” fortress is a cultural monument of national importance and is among the 100 National tourist sites of Bulgaria.
It is situated in the Danube Park opposite the Vidin Eparchy. Its construction was completed in 1800-1801. The mosque is a large stone building with oriental architecture. Its vestibule is shaped like an open gallery. The prayer hall is large and decorated with a slatted ceiling. The minaret ends with a stylized peak.

The building was built in 1800-1801 for the needs of the Ottoman troops in the city and was connected by a covered wooden bridge to the nearby armory. Before that the Old Sarai gardens were located there and it was used as a hostel for the Janissaries. It is a massive stone building with a built-up area of 1,260 square meters. It has the shape of an isosceles cross.
It is located on the territory of the municipalities of Belogradchik and Chuprene and occupies an area of 1439.20 hectares. The reserve is an exclusive state property and is managed and guarded by the authorities of the MoEW (Ministry of Environment and Water).
In 1977 The World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization of the United Nations – UNESCO included it in its lists of protected natural areas as “an integral part of the international network of biosphere reserves, composed of areas for the assessment of human impact on the environment” with which the reserve received international status. The main goal is to preserve the only compact spruce stands in the Western Stara Planina in their primary state. Beech, fir, mountain peony can also be observed in the reserve. Representatives of the animal species are viper, grouse, ptarmigan, lamprey, red deer, wolf, etc.
The cave is a natural landmark with interesting formations and prehistoric finds. It is located on the land of Rabisha village, Belogradchik municipality. Magurata is one of the largest (over 30,000 square meters) and most beautiful Bulgarian caves.
Declared so for the purpose of preserving the unique geomorphological formations as well as the habitats of rare and endangered species of flora and fauna. It covers an extensive territory with a length of about 30 km and a width of 3 km in the Western Stara Planina around the town of Belogradchik.
