Ivo Varbanov is a classical pianist who lives in London and who decided to cultivate vineyards in his home country. After a long research process he chose the region of South Sakar near the village of Izvorovo. In 2005 he bought 13 hectares of land and in 2006 he began with the cultivating. His aim are wines which reflect the terroir of the region which Ivo considers one of the best in the whole of the Balkans. The vinification is done over at wine cellar Bratanovi. Stancho Bangiev has been taking care of the wines since 2012. Due to the use of bio farming practices yield levels are naturally low. His wines can be found in the UK, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Finland, Montenegro, USA and South Korea. His main clients are Michelin starred restaurants and places for wine connoisseurs. Ivo Varbanov is one of the founders of the Bulgarian Association of Independent Winegrowers, Vice President of the European Confederation of Independent Winegrowers and, since 2017, he is the first Bulgarian member of the International Academy of Wine (AIV).<\/figure>

Wine lovers can get acquainted with the wines of Ivo Varbanov in the cellar where they vinify – Bratanovi<\/a>, in the authentic atmosphere of oak barrels.<\/p>

At Enoteca Sakar you can combine their wines with dishes made from local products and forgotten recipes. Vertical tastings and introductions to old wine vintages can be arranged by prior arrangement, and wine picnics among the vineyards are suitable during the harvest. Perperikon is the largest ancient and sacred city in the Balkans. It is carved from stone, hence its name, which is associated with the Thracian stone god Per. It is located on the Perperikon hill of the same name in the Eastern Rhodopes, 15 km northeast of Kardzhali. In the eternal city are the remains of the sanctuary of the god Dionysius with the famous altar of predictions. It has often been compared to the magnificent Temple of Apollo at Delphi. In the past, the area was a rich source of gold, from which the Perpera gold coins were minted.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

The stone mushrooms are rock formations located right by the village of Beli Plast on the side of the road connecting Kardzhali with Haskovo. The protected area is around 3 hectares. They have been declared a natural landmark since 1974. The rock formations have the shape of natural mushrooms – their stumps are pink and their caps are greenish.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

The museum centre “Thracian Art in the Eastern Rhodopes” is located in the immediate vicinity of the Alexandrov Tomb. A highlight of the exhibition hall of the museum centre is the exact copy of the original tomb of Alexander. Through the replica, visitors are given the opportunity to get acquainted with a truly unique monument of ancient art in Thrace. The rich exposition also shows numerous artefacts from the Thracian period in the region of the city of Haskovo, a large part of which can be seen in the frescoes of the Alexander Tomb – weapons, jewellery, dishes, etc.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
