Velis Vineyards is a unique Bulgarian-German wine project, born of love for wine, nature and art. In Bulgaria Velis Vineyards grows traditional French grape varieties in the Western Thracian Plain and vinifies in their own wine cellar Villa Velis, in the village of Karabunar . In Germany they grow Riesling, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, which we process into our own modern wineries in Flörsheim-Dalsheim.
Velis Vineyards produces rich red wines, rosé and white wines. The main focus is on wines that impress with their structure, variety of flavors and potential to age over time. Their reserves are aged in French oak barrels, which guarantee a pleasant tannin structure. Subsequent aging of red wines in the bottle also contributes to the perfect balance of wines.
In 2021, Villa Velis opened its doors to tourists, and their plans are to open a Wine & Tapas Bar to the wine cellar, as well as to renovate the existing hotel next to the winery. The attitude of the owners to the products from local producers is an example – they include dairy and meat appetizers from local farms, which can also be purchased from their store after tasting. The large yard of the winery is extremely suitable for wine festivals, weddings, and knowing the innovative approach of the team, we expect interesting outdoor wine & art events.
During the visit you will visit the production room and the aging room, accompanied by a short talk. Wine tasting from Villa Velis is held in the tasting room – the future Wine & Tapas bar, but in the store you can also buy those from German wineries.
