Main Info
Varna winery is a joint project of Grigor Grigorov – a viticulturist and investor and technologist and Tsanko Stanchev – oenologist with many years of experience. The two friends fulfill their dream to create beautiful and valuable things in life through wine. The cellar is located 2 km from the seaside in close proximity to the resort complexes Albena, Balchik, Golden Sands.
The technology is in line with the latest world trends, as a large part of the operations is carried out manually and the grapes and wine are processed carefully and sparingly. Izba Varna is the first winery in Bulgaria that implements the transfer of grape pulp and wine by gravity, without the use of pumps, which complements the gentle manual operations for obtaining unique wines. Up to 300 tons of grapes are processed from our own vineyards with a controlled yield and about 190,000 litres of wine are produced annually in the cellar.
The region is suitable for growing white grape varieties as well as some red grape varieties which also feel good here. White grape varieties find the conditions in this region good and so they are more widely represented in the Varna cellar – Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Riesling, Traminer, Varna Misquet, Viognier and Grüner Veltliner. The two rosé wines are produced from red varieties suitable for this region – Pinot Noir and Sangiovese. The region also creates conditions for growing Cabernet Franc. Two assortments of red wine are also produced from grapes from controlled vineyards in southern Bulgaria.
“To us wine is a passion. It is family and friends. It is the warmth of the heart and the generosity of the spirit.”
In the cellar you can enjoy a tasting of 3 wines (10 BGN), 5 wines (13 BGN) and/or lunch accompanied by 5 wines (25 BGN).
